California woman reported missing while on vacation in Miami

An Arizona woman is pleading for the public’s help after her daughter, a 23-year-old California mother of two, disappeared last month while vacationing in Miami.

Darnella Melancon, of Yuma, recently traveled to Florida to help search for her daughter Angela Morrisey, a Sacramento woman and citizen of the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe, Indian Country Today reported.

Morrisey was in Miami with her boyfriend, who told police he last saw her March 28. The two were waiting for a boat tour at the downtown Bayside Marketplace when she headed to the restroom and never returned, investigators said.

Woman stuck in Florida hotel window died of mechanical asphyxia

Officials on Thursday revealed the cause of death for the 22-year-old woman who died when she became stuck trying to climb through the window of her Florida hotel room — as her mother remembered her as a “fearless” daughter who touched “countless lives.”

Sydney Therriault, of Beallsville, Md., died of mechanical asphyxia, which means that there was some kind of obstruction of the airflow to the lungs, according to preliminary autopsy results from the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident occurred while she was staying earlier this month at the Pelican RV Resort & Marina in Grassy Key.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Update: A woman was shot by an officer after she pointed a gun at officers during a call at the Red Roof Inn Wednesday.

Police were responding to report of a stolen vehicle that was found in the hotel’s lot in the 7300 block of East Kellogg. A person in the area contacted officers, saying that the woman in the stolen car was involved.

Maryland woman, 22, dies after getting stuck in Florida hotel window

A “free-spirited” Maryland woman vacationing in Florida died when she got stuck in the window of her hotel room, authorities said.

Sydney Therriault, 22, of Beallsville had been staying earlier this month at the Pelican RV Resort & Marina in Grassy Key, Florida, Fox Baltimore reported.

“It appeared she did not have a hotel key was attempting to make entry to her room via the window,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

But when she tried to enter the window, she became stuck and asphyxiated, authorities said.
