Special Agents Conduct Quarantine Compliance Checks at 3,200 Hotel Rooms

Since August 2020, Special Agents of the Hawaiʻi Department of the Attorney General’s Investigation Division have conducted quarantine compliance checks to ensure traveler compliance with COVID-19 emergency rules.  The checks were conducted at 3,200 hotel rooms, primarily at Waikīkī hotels.

To date, the department has conducted 55 arrests for travel self-quarantine violations.  Officials say the primary focus of these operations is to educate travelers, to touch base during their quarantine period, and to address incidences of travelers attempting to work around the system.

Hong Kong, Singapore to launch air travel bubble with no quarantine

Hong Kong and Singapore said Monday they would launch an air travel bubble in May, months after an initial arrangement that would allow tourists to fly between both cities without having to serve quarantine was postponed.

Flights will begin May 26. Visitors will not have to go through the quarantine as long as they fulfill the conditions of traveling within the air travel bubble.

Hong Kong and Singapore had previously announced the launch of an air travel bubble in November last year but shelved the plan days before it was to start after Hong Kong saw a surge in COVID-19

Canadians Riding Home from U.S. in Cabs to Avoid Hotel Quarantine

  • Canada has had tough restrictions in place for months, with borders closed to most nonessential travel, although Canadians can travel in and out.

    New York lifts quarantine on international travel. Steps you must take

    ALBANY – New York has lifted its COVID-19 quarantine and testing requirements for international travelers.

    The move, which was announced Saturday, follows New York’s decision April 1 to end its quarantine on visitors coming to the state from another state or U.S. territory.
