Brynn Hirschman, a member of the first graduating class of the University of Wyoming’s Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management Degree Program, has been named as Outdoor Recreation Coordinator within the Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites, & Trails Division.

Hirschman, a native of Ohio, has served as a recreation specialist within the Outdoor Recreation Office during the past year.  Prior to that she served with the Wyoming Conservation Corps and worked at the famous Vee Bar Guest Ranch.

The Abilene Adaptive Recreation program could be getting a new host

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC)- The Abilene City Council approved budget cuts back in December, one of those cuts was the Adaptive Recreation program which serves people with disabilities.  

A few months ago, we met Sue Davidson and her son Craig

Davidson says Adaptive Recreation was her saving grace because it provided a place for her son to be while she could work.  

“I couldn’t have worked without it,” said Davidson. 

The program was cut since it could not run during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“The participants are just lost; they don’t have anything to do,” said Davidson.

Hawaii announces COVID vaccine passport program for inter-island travel

Hawaii will from next month allow residents who’ve been fully inoculated against COVID-19 to bypass the state’s pre-travel tests and quarantine for inter-island flights.

Rebooted summer recreation program needs workers | Local News

After COVID-19 shut down traditional summer recreation programs for Hermitage students last year, city and school district officials are rebooting the programs for the summer. With the pandemic improving, they hope to conduct a traditional summer recreation program, following whatever masking or social distancing guidelines are prescribed.

With costs shared by the city and Hermitage School District, the summer program runs from June 14 through July 31. It typically registers 300 to 400 students. Indoor and outdoor activities include tennis, basketball, softball, kickball, and swimming, as well as science, art, and music projects.

Remote Worker Program Offers Cash, Outdoor Recreation For Moving To W.Va.

West Virginia officials unveiled a new program on Monday to attract outdoor enthusiasts with remote jobs to the state.

After moving to the state, participants in the Ascend WV program will receive a package valued at over $20,000. The package includes a no-strings attached $12,000, outdoor recreation, coworking space and social events.

City parks and recreation provides program updates for spring, summer

The City of Reno this week provided an update on current operations within its Parks and Recreation department. It comes on the heels of another loosening of statewide COVID-19 restrictions permitting full-contact and close-contact sports to resume.

Parks and Recreation officials note that all of their programs still follow current COVID-19 mitigation measures, which include masking, social distancing and capacity limits.
