Forest considers numerous recreation, guiding permits


The Flathead National Forest is accepting public comment on 19 different recreation events and temporary outfitting and guiding activities that are expected to take place on public lands this year.

The events and activities would “provide a spectrum of opportunities like livery services, trail running and races, guided mountain biking, bike races, motorized tours, among others,” a media release on the projects states.

Seventeen of the proposals are for single-year permits while two are multi-year, though all activities would unfold within the May to October timeframe.

Man arrested for domestic abuse after numerous 911 calls from hotel

ALLOUEZ, Wis. (WBAY) – A 33-year-old man is facing 30 years in prison if convicted on domestic abuse-related charges stemming from a fight at a Green Bay-area hotel.

Brown County dispatchers received several 911 calls from Hawthorn Suites on W. St. Joseph St. in Allouez at about 10 o’clock Thursday morning, all reporting a woman screaming in one of the rooms. Deputies knocked and announced themselves, and a woman who was crying hysterically answered the door.

RecPlex offers numerous recreation opportunities

The RecPlex is a 79,000 square foot facility that provides the community of Ponca City with a variety of services since it’s opening in January of 2019.

Among some of the services offered by the Rec-Plex include aquatic activities such as water yoga and aerobics, swimming pools and kayak rentals. There are many fitness activities from kick boxing, cycling, yoga, power jam and boot camps.

Besides physical activities, there are also dog obedience classes, paint nights, and plans for an art class and a chess camp in summer.
