Portland man forcefully detained by US marshals after hotel desk clerk misidentifies him as fugitive

Marc Hewitt was planning for a bit of a staycation when he went to a hotel near Portland International Airport earlier this year.

He checked in, got up to his room and was settling in when he was forcefully pulled from his room by two men, then handcuffed and briefly detained in the hallway.

The men, he would learn later, were U.S. marshals looking for a fraud suspect.

Florida man attacks 3 women on vacation, hits one with brick, officials say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WESH) — A good Samaritan came to the rescue after police say a man chased three women who were visiting Daytona Beach with a brick and hit them.

The victims had just left their hotel and were on A1A between Main Street and Harvey Avenue when they say Malik Irving approached them and started talking.

The women, who aren’t fluent in English, said Irving spit on them when they didn’t understand him.

“Immediately I could see they’re hysterical. They trip over each other, they fall into the ground,” Dylan Burst said.

HONOLULU – A tourist from Pittsburgh has been charged with manslaughter after a deadly fight in a Hawaii vacation rental, police said.

A second tourist from Boston who had been arrested was released with no charges filed, police on the Big Island said March 31.

Police were called to a Kailua-Kona vacation rental early March 29 where a 30-year-old man wasn’t breathing.

Man tries stealing hotel TV; drugs & stolen truck found in his possession

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Officers with the Lincoln Police Department arrested a man they say was trying to steal a TV from a hotel, ultimately learning he was driving a stolen truck with drugs in a backpack.

Around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to Country Inn and Suites, near NW 12th and W Adams Streets on a larceny report.
