Decatur’s recreation facilities resume pre-pandemic hours | Decatur

Decatur Parks and Recreation indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, venues and parks will return to a normal schedule today after over a year of COVID-19 restrictions and shutdowns, city officials said.

Nicole Belcher, Parks and Recreation marketing director, said Monday that the Aquadome, Fort Decatur and T.C. Almon will open at 8 a.m. today and operate under Gov. Kay Ivey’s “Safer Apart” order.

“We know there’s no longer a mask mandate, but we will strongly urge people to wear masks and social distance,” Belcher said. “Now the executive order is about personal responsibility.”

Greensboro Parks and Recreation officials extend hours and restart rentals

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro is extending the hours of parks and resuming some of its rentals, which are also expanding hours.

As they begin to ease restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the department is now accepting picnic shelter reservations for parties of 100 people or less.

Gardens are accepting outdoor wedding reservations for 100 people or fewer as well. Rental operators, including the Barber Park Event Center and recreation centers, have returned. Although, the spaces are currently limited to 50% capacity.

Armed barricade, lockdown of guests and staff at Kahala resort ends after nearly 10 hours

HONOLULU (KHNL) – An armed man barricaded in his fourth floor room at the Kahala Hotel & Resort fired through the door at security staff, police say, triggering an hours-long lockdown Saturday night and a huge police response as authorities scrambled to keep guests and staff safe.

The first shot was fired about 6 p.m. and the lockdown ended nearly 10 hours later, when SWAT officers made entry into the room and found the suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A Florida hotel kicked out nearly 100 guests and fired staff just hours after it learned the business had been sold, forcing a number of disgruntled customers onto the street.

Champions World Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, abruptly shut down on Thursday after it learned that it had been sold to new owners.
