A few hiccups on day 1 of coronavirus vaccination card uploads to Hawaii Safe Travels

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Friday, May 7, was the first day that Hawaii residents were able to upload their vaccination cards to the Safe Travels website.

The State admitted that there were some hiccups.

Uploading the vaccination card will allow Hawaii residents to travel inter-island without getting tested starting on Tuesday, May 11. Officials say there were many who could not get it done.

The mom and pup are attracting people to Kaimana Beach, and a neighboring business is benefiting thanks in part to its prime view.

Hawaii May Require Vaccine Passports For All Travelers Starting This Summer

Traveling between the Hawaiian islands is about to get easier — at least for Hawaiian residents who were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Hawaii.

Starting May 11, as long as at least 14 days have passed since their second COVID-19 vaccination, state residents who were vaccinated in Hawaii will be able to bypass the state’s 10-day travel quarantine without going through the Safe Travels Hawaii pre-testing program or post-arrival county testing, Governor David Ige explained in a press conference. This exemption will make it easier for people to conduct business and see family members.

Young boy dies with COVID-19 after family travels to Hawaii

HONOLULU – A child who traveled to Hawaii with his vaccinated parents has died after contracting COVID-19.

The Hawaii Department of Health said Tuesday that the boy is under 11 and had known underlying conditions.

“While we mourn all victims of COVID-19, today’s announcement of the death of a child from this virus is especially heartbreaking,” Gov. David Ige said in a statement. “Dawn and I express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of this child.”

It was the first coronavirus-related death of a child in that age range in Hawaii.
