Armed barricade, lockdown of guests and staff at Kahala resort ends after nearly 10 hours

HONOLULU (KHNL) – An armed man barricaded in his fourth floor room at the Kahala Hotel & Resort fired through the door at security staff, police say, triggering an hours-long lockdown Saturday night and a huge police response as authorities scrambled to keep guests and staff safe.

The first shot was fired about 6 p.m. and the lockdown ended nearly 10 hours later, when SWAT officers made entry into the room and found the suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Mt. Lemmon Hotel welcomes first guests

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The first guests at the new cabins on Mt. Lemmon are arriving Friday afternoon.

Co-owner Justin Hafner told KGUN9, all nine of the hotel’s cabins are already booked up on weekends through August.

“We’re incredibly ecstatic with the turnout and support we’ve had from those in Tucson,” said Hafner.

Nearly 100 guests reportedly forced out of Florida hotel after it was sold

Nearly 100 guests on Thursday were forced out of a Florida hotel and looking to find other arrangements after it was sold to a new owner, according to multiple reports. 

The new owners of Champions World Resort in Kissimmee reportedly wanted guests out by 4 p.m., according to FOX35. To make sure that happened, owners reportedly planned to shut off the power by 12 a.m.

Florida Hotel Guests Kicked Out, Staff Fired Hours After Business Sold

A Florida hotel kicked out nearly 100 guests and fired staff just hours after it learned the business had been sold, forcing a number of disgruntled customers onto the street.

Champions World Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, abruptly shut down on Thursday after it learned that it had been sold to new owners.

Peters Recreation Complex reopens some additional services for students, guests

The Peters Recreation Complex began this month to reopen some services previously closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rec opened the north sand volleyball courts on March 10 and racquetball courts, squash courts and the games lounge on March 15. However, there is a two-person limit for each indoor court.

Masks are required and social distancing is strongly encouraged when possible.
