Khumbulani Konco has explained his Bloemfontein Celtic departure

Former Bloemfontein Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco has explained why he parted ways with the club after 20 years of service.

Konco first joined the Mangaung outfit as a player, before moving up the ranks to team manager, chief operations officer, and more recently CEO, a position he held until Monday 15 March 2021.

After news broke in local media, it was reported that Konco was retrenched by the club, following a section 189 process, which came after he served a suspension following a verbal spat with the club’s chairman, Max Tshabalala.

Neil Lennon: Celtic manager not planning summer departure

Neil Lennon says he has no plans to follow chief executive Peter Lawwell in leaving Celtic this summer.

Celtic announced on Friday Lawwell would retire this summer, with Scottish Rugby’s Dominic McKay taking over.

Lennon, 49, is in his second spell as Celtic manager and signed a 12-month rolling contract in 2019. His side are 23 points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers.
