GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Morton Hotel is offering a unique experience for dog lovers in downtown Grand Rapids.
“We are very excited for this new opportunity to promote this dog-centric, dog-friendly, pet-forward hotel,” said Ross Bartlett, Regional General Manager for The Morton Hotel.
Bartlett said they identified a need for a comfortable place to travel with dogs in Grand Rapids. The 25-room “pup-perfect” residential style hotel opened on March 15 in the nearly century old, 13-story Morton building at the corner of Ionia Avenue NW and Monroe Center.
The modern rooms range in size from studio apartments to one- and two-bedroom suites. Every room comes with a full kitchen – including a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher – and full-size clothes washer and dryer units.
“This hotel is really starting to cater towards the extended stay traveler that does not want to have the hassle of kennels, or boarding, or dog sitters,” said Bartlett. “We really want you to bring the dog with you and enjoy this beautiful new hotel.”
They’re not kidding.
Rooms come with a dog bed, dog food and water dishes, lint roller and waste bags. Custom dog-centric artwork from local artist Maddie Jackson decorates the walls.
Hotel guests can stay out of the weather at the indoor dog play and relief area in the hotel’s basement that is open 24/7. The area also has a dog wash tub with a ramp.
“We have thought long and hard about what sort of ways we can have Fido come with us and enjoy creature comforts of home.”
Room rates start at $179 a night. Dogs are the only kind of pet currently allowed at the hotel. For more information, visit the website.
