Say what you will about 2020 and Covid-19, but they forced the hospitality world to get creative. There were lockdown weekend promotions, transitions toward cowork spaces and even luxury quarantine packages. 

Now, with many parts of the world still a long ways off from being able to have a normal tourist season, some savvy hotels are rethinking their offerings and becoming more like residential buildings—but with all the bells and whistles of five-star hotels—ready to welcome the many newly remote workers who want to try their hand at digital nomadism, with leases from one month to a full year. 

Montefiore Hotel and Residence, Tel Aviv

This boutique hotel, one of the pioneers in the city, tweaked its identity in December, reopening with a “residence” component for medium- and long-term stays with the amenities of a boutique hotel. (Vaccinated) guests who sign on for one month (NIS 9,000, approximately $2,800) get to live full-time in one of the well-designed rooms, with private key access to the room and the building, a daily breakfast of fresh coffee and croissants with jam, full use of the lounge and library for working and meetings of up to six people, access to an honesty bar and complimentary Bulgari bath products. 

Casa Bonay, Barcelona

Casa Bonay turns into casa,” reads the promo for this Barcelona boutique hotel’s long-stay program. Guests who book in for a month or longer get their choice of rooms, a guaranteed workspace, tech support, use of a tricked-out meeting room (once per month), storage space, a 10% discount on food and drinks from the hotel and weekly laundry service. Meal plans are also available.

Martinhal Chiado, Lisbon

This smart, family-friendly hotel in central Lisbon fhas shifted into serviced apartments. The 37 studios and 1- and 2-bedroom apartments all have fully equipped kitchens with basic crockery, double-glazed windows to keep out the sounds of the city, 24/7 concierge, water and electricity, WiFi, weekly cleaning and linen changes and care for children upon request. Rates start from 37€ per night for a six-month, self-catering stay. 

W South Beach, Florida

This sexy south Florida hotel is offering extended-stay packages for people who book 30 days or longer. The deal includes spaces equipped for remote work and learning, grocery delivery, discounted private jet and yacht charters, a dedicated 24/7 W Insider concierge, daily pet walks and discounted dry cleaning. Students also get access to exclusive on-call tutors, teaching assistants and personal trainers for private physical education classes. Rates start at $26,000 for one month or $20,000 per month for a minimum of six months.

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit

Maybe it’s a marketing gambit, but the signature One Million Baht Club is a pretty appealing option for a long stay. One million baht (about $32,400) buys a pretty remarkable opportunity for guests who are seeking a semi-permanent stay in the city center of Bangkok. The fee includes an unlimited stay in a Club Room for 365 nights, Club Lounge access, meeting room usage, a food and drink credit, access to the 24-hour fitness center, basic utilities, limited laundry service and dedicated hotel concierge service. 

Tierra Magnifica, Costa Rica

This 14-room Costa Rican boutique hotel is offering a Vacation Home Office package with 30% off room rates for travelers staying 21 days or more. With its location in an oceanside jungle, it’s a fine spot to lie low for a while. Each room is equipped with a desk and fast Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected between morning yoga sessions, fresh breakfasts and beach breaks.
