Hotels offering special rates, promotions for first-ever Ann Arbor Hotel Week

ANN ARBOR, MI – Hotels are offering special rates and promotions as part of the inaugural Ann Arbor Hotel Week Feb. 21-26.

Destination Ann Arbor has partnered with the Washtenaw County Hotel Association to launch the event, according to a news release. Along with special rates and promotions, Ann Arbor Hotel Week will coincide with Ann Arbor Restaurant Week so folks can stay downtown and explore local restaurants.

COVID-19 hotel quarantine from high-risk countries to start in U.K. from Feb. 15

Arrivals to the U.K. from “red list” countries will be forced to quarantine in hotels under tough new measures introduced amid mounting concerns over the spread of new overseas strains of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

From Feb. 15, anyone traveling to the U.K. from 33 countries on its travel ban list, will have to spend 10 days in hotels or other accommodation provided by the government.

The quarantine plan will affect returning U.K. residents and nationals traveling from these countries, who cannot be denied entry, the government said. Non-U.K. travelers are already banned

Woman shot to death at downtown Boston hotel, 1 of 2 fatal shootings Thursday night

A woman was shot to death at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Boston late Thursday night, according to Boston police.

The hotel incident was one of two fatal shootings in Boston Thursday night. Just over an hour prior, a man was shot to death in Dorchester.

For the hotel shooting, authorities were called to 1 Avenue de Lafayette around 11:26 p.m. for a report of someone shot. Police found a woman with a gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead on scene.

If I want to book a room at a hotel, I can call the hotel, go to the hotel’s website, go to the hotel chain’s website, or go to a booking site that covers thousands of hotels. In every case, I can see available rooms and make a reservation. I do not have to log in to see what’s available, and I only need to provide information after I select a specific hotel, type of room, and date. While the price may differ, regardless of how I book the room, the specific hotel will have a room reserved for me.
