Barcelona | Transfer Market Likely to stay in January
Barcelona are hoping to have a few incomings and a few departures during this January transfer window, but one player who is set to remain at the Camp Nou is Junior Firpo.
Carles Alena has already made his way out of the club, joining Getafe on loan until the end of the season, and the Blaugrana are looking to push some other players towards the exit door, too.
Yet, despite Granada coming in with an enquiry for Junior, in general the offers for the left-back have not met Barcelona‘s financial demands or the sporting demands of the player.
As such, it seems increasingly likely that the 24-year-old will still be a Barcelona player at the end of the window. Only a last-minute surprise offer could see him depart.
Barcelona are aware that the departure of Junior could lead to more headaches, as it would leave Jordi Alba without a natural backup. Sergino Dest can fill in there, but he is having to start in his preferred role of right-back due to Sergi Roberto’s injury.
The only other option would be for Ronald Koeman to look to the B team, where there is no outstanding candidate to come in. Therefore, Junior will only leave Barcelona if a really good offer arrives.
It seems difficult for other members of the squad to depart in January, with Riqui Puig continuing to insist that he doesn’t want to go out on loan, while Martin Braithwaite has made clear that he is very happy at the club.
